| Depart from Detroit Metro Airport late afternoon.
Trans-Atlantic flight to Madrid. Dinner and breakfast served
in flight. |

Monday, April 19
Madrid

Arrive Madrid. Transfer to hotel, via deluxe motor-coach.
Check-in at hotel followed by orientation. Lunch together.
Optional afternoon visit to Ignatian sites in Alcala. Group
dinner at hotel. Overnight Madrid.

Day 3
Tuesday, April 20
Madrid

|
Morning guided tour of Prado Museum or the Royal Palace.
Lunch on own. This afternoon, those who wish can travel to
Escorial or Alcala by train. Dinner together. Overnight Madrid.

Day 4
Wednesday, April 21
Madrid/Toledo/Madrid
|
|
Following breakfast leave for Toledo, one of Europe's most
ancient and beloved cities. Here you will visit the El Greco
Museum, tour Old Town by trolley, have lunch together at a
Parador perched above the city. Enjoy the afternoon wandering
the quaint streets. Those who wish to return to Madrid in
late afternoon will be taken by motor coach. Other's may stay
in Toledo and return by train with Fr. Scullin. Overnight
Madrid.

Day 5
Thursday, April 22
Madrid/Avila/Salamanca
|
|
Motor-coach to Salamanca. Stop en route at Avila, home of
St. Theresa founder of the Order of Carmelites. Mass and visit
at Monastery of the Incarnation, major religious home of St.
Theresa. Lunch together en route. Late afternoon arrival to
Salamanca. Visit the medieval university where Ignatius studied
with time for a stroll in its Baroque Plaza Mayor, one of
the country's grandest squares. Dinner together at hotel.
Overnight Salamanca.

Friday, April 23
Salamanca/Loyola
|
|
Leave Salamanca for Loyola. En route visit the Cathedral
at Burgos. Lunch on own. Arrive for night at Loyola Hotel,
just outside Santuario de Loyola. Initial visit and Mass at
the Holy House, home to Ignatius and the Loyola family. Dinner
together. Overnight Loyola Hotel.

Loyola

Visit the birthplace and home of St. Ignatius and the medieval
section of the town of Azpetia. Experience something of the
person of Ignatius and his roots. Join for Mass in the room
of St. Ignatius' conversion. Lunch together. Dinner and accommodations
at the Hotel Loyola.

|
|
Motor-coach to Javier. Visit Javier Castle, family home to
St. Francis Xavier. Mass together in the parish church. Accommodations

Javier/Barcelona
|
|
Travel by motor-coach through the rustic Catalonian landscape
to Barcelona. Lunch en route. Check in followed by dinner.

Half-day tour of key Ignatian sites, including the Church
of Santa Maria del Mar. Visit the unfinished cathedral Sagrada

Remainder of afternoon at leisure. Dinner together. Overnight
Barcelona.

Barcelona/Montserrat/Manresa
|

Day trip to Montserrat to visit the Benedictine Archabbey
and pilgrimage site where Ignatius kept vigil during his conversion.
Lunch on own. Visit to nearby Manresa where Ignatius prayed
over a one year period and composed the Spiritual Exercises.
Mass at Manresa. Dinner together. Overnight Barcelona.

Barcelona/Rome
|

Depart from Barcelona to Rome via inter-Europe air. On arrival
to Rome airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
En route there will be a brief orientation tour of Rome. Remainder
of afternoon at leisure to explore on your own. Dinner together
at local restaurant. Overnight Rome.

Transfer to the chapel at La Storta, continue to the Basilica
of St Paul Outside the Walls followed by a half day guided
tour of ancient Rome. Remainder of afternoon at leisure. Dinner

Rome

This morning opportunity for extended guided visit to St.
Peter's, the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. Lunch on
own. This afternoon half-day tour of Christian Rome. Includes
the Triton Fountain by Bernini, the Holy Stairs, Old Appian
Way, the ruins of Caracalla Baths, Basilica of St. Mary Major,
Basilica of St. John Lateran, and the Catacombs, where we
will have Mass. Overnight Rome.

Rome

Visit to the Ignatian sites in Rome. Mass together at Gesu
Church with visit to Ignatius' rooms. Visit the Church of
St. Ignatius. Lunch on own. Remainder of day at leisure. Tonight
a farewell dinner together at Cecelia Mattella's Restaurant.
Overnight Rome.

| After breakfast, transfer to Rome's airport for
